UpStim LLC is an innovative medical device enterprise proudly incorporated in 2023 in Rochester, Minnesota - the home state for more than 1000 healthcare companies, including worldwide renowned Mayo Clinic.

Our focus is on developing and commercializing a new generation of neurostimulation technologies controlled by the patient's brain and neural system and integrated with robotic rehabilitation and control systems, with the ultimate goal of restoring neurological functions affected by stroke, spinal cord injury, and other neurological conditions leading to sensorimotor impairments.

Conditions like stroke and spinal cord injury leading to paralysis, neuropathic pain, and often cognitive disorders, have a lifelong devastating impact on independence and activities of daily living, which drastically reduces the quality of life for patients and their families. Sadly, currently clinically available approaches to treat severe sensorimotor deficit have shown only little-to-no functional gain, and for many promising technologies, clinical translation has not been achieved. 

Our mission is to advance the fields of neuromodulation and rehabilitation, focusing on synergy or neurostimulation, neural interfaces, and robotic rehabilitation, to help patients with stroke and spinal cord injury regain optimal functionality. 

Along with the successful development of neurorestorative approaches, UpStim aims to facilitate the rapid development of new age neurotechnologies in the field of neuromodulation and rehabilitation from initial hypothesis to commercialization. The transition from idea to clinical practice requires new formats for evaluating ideas and discussing scientific results between scientists, companies, and potential consumers. 

UpStim creates and maintains an open environment for discussing findings and observations at their early stages to evaluate the potential of research discoveries and optimally translate them into relevant products.
